LUNA

LUNA

Luna. She captivated my interest from the very start and got my imagination working and I knew early on that she would be special. Her design flowed from the folklaw surrounding hares, their representation of rebirth and of The Past, The Present and The Future, all shown visually by her three crescent moons. She sits in long grass of greens and golds, intermingled with pink wildflowers and her two companions, bright blue butterflies of day-dreams symbolise a person's essence, or soul, either past, present or future in the same way a Hare does, and they lie upon her Prussian Blue body. The morning grass with its dappled golden sunlight rises to night and a starry sky topped with a full moon on her forehead, as though she is emitting wisdom.

Luna, who is approximately 3ft tall to the tip of her ears, was painted on behalf of The Blossom Charity of Eye and was sponsored by Clarke & Simpson of Framlingham. Other painted Hares & Tortoises are being displayed in Eye throughout July and August 2021 before they are auctioned on 16th September 2021 to raise money for The Blossom Charity.
