WHAT IS YOUR SIX WORD STORY

WHAT IS YOUR SIX WORD STORY

"For sale: baby shoes, never worn." is a six-word story, generally attributed to Ernest Hemingway, although the link to him is unsubstantiated. It is an example of ‘flash fiction’

A six word story is a great way to do a single line entry in your diary or journal if you don’t want to write a whole page, sum up your day with 6 words instead. You can also create one for memorable events, or for a memoir of your life. The great thing about them is that they get you thinking, you can focus in on the important words which mark an event and then narrow them down to just six. Since I learnt about the technique several years ago I have used them in lots of scenarios and shared the concept with friends. To share the idea I have created a canvas and also cards, see below.

Since I learnt of Six Word Stories I have pondered on many, based on the day I have had, an event that has happened, or one just about life in general. The best of them I have written down and re-reading them instantly whisks me back to the memory I was aiming to capture …

Otta, our Queen, a dear dog

The Bride, our Daughter, looked beautiful

Pandora has died, long live Pandora
